When is Bonfire Night 2026 and why do we celebrate?

‍

‍

‍

‍

On Thursday, 5th November and the following weekend, fireworks will light up night skies all over Britain as we celebrate Bonfire Night. A tradition lasting over 420 years, ever since Guy Fawkes almost blew up parliament with 36 barrels of gunpowder, it's now a night of apples, sparklers, and watching the sky light up in all kinds of colours.

‍

‍

‍

We’ve put together this guide for our community to make the most of fireworks night 2026, wrap up warm, and celebrate with a bang. With all events we recommend booking as early as you can to avoid disappointment! Read on for our favourite bonfire night 2026 events.

Major Bonfire Night fireworks displays in London and the South

‍

‍

‍

Alexandra Palace Fireworks Festival & Battersea Park

‍

‍

‍

‍

From 7-8th November, Alexandra Palace Park is holding their annual Fireworks & Drone  Festival. For a full festival atmosphere, we recommend choosing Sunday, when you can enjoy German beer, headline DJ sets, street food, fairground rides and loads more. If you’re looking for a more relaxed, family vibe, go for Sunday, set to be packed with kid-friendly raving and sing-alongs. Across both days, expect bonfires, marshmallow toasting, and all kinds of classic Autumn festivities, including ice skating, fireworks and colourful drone displays.

‍

‍

‍

Also on 7-8th November, London’s biggest fireworks display is on in Battersea Park. Go for DJs and musicians like Rudimental DJ, food and drinks, thrilling rides, and of course, some of the best fireworks London has to offer. Sunday is the perfect option for families, while Saturday is a great idea for a Bonfire Night date.

Historic torchlight processions (Lewes & Winchester)

‍

‍

‍

If you’re looking for a more traditional way to celebrate Bonfire Night, there are time-honoured festivities planned all across the UK.

‍

‍

‍

We recommend Winchester Bonfire Night, where you can see a torchlight procession wind through the historic architecture before ending with a beautiful fireworks display at North Walls Recreation Ground. Another fab option is Brockham Bonfire where, dating back to 1888, villagers come together for a torchlight procession through the grounds, also ending in a large bonfire and firework display.

‍

‍

‍

Another favourite of ours is Edenbridge Bonfire, that, as well as a torchlight procession and bonfire, parades two giant eleven-metre tall effigies; one Guy Fawkes, the other a modern ‘Celebrity Guy’ revealed, and then blown up, on the night.

‍

‍

‍

Tracing its origins back to 1847, visitors to Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival can enjoy music, dancing, fairground rides, all kinds of family activities in the daytime, as well as an illuminated parade complete with marching band and ending in the Somerset tradition of ‘Squibbing’, where 150-200 fireworks are held by hand into the air by a long, continuous line of ‘squibbers’, pouring fountains of sparks into the sky and creating a trail of fire.

‍Returning city displays and ticketed regional shows (Heaton Park, Tameside, Sky Magic)

‍

‍

‍

‍

Manchester Council is running three displays in three major parks on 7th November - Heaton Park, Platt Fields Park and Wythenshawe Park - with a low-bang display at five PM, followed by a lantern parade, before main firework displays to music at 8pm. The great thing about this is it’s totally free, ensuring a real local community feel.

‍

‍

‍

The Tameside Firework Spectacular is another bonfire night event to look out for, with food, music, and plenty of family-friendly entertainment planned for 6 November. Sky Magic also has some fantastic events across Yorkshire, with firework displays taking place in Beverley, Pickering, Driffield, and York.

‍SEN-friendly & low-bang fireworks displays for families

‍

‍

‍

‍

For younger children or sensory-sensitive visitors, there are lots of low-bang displays that allow everyone to take part in the fun. Try Essex’s Marsh Farm’s Magical Family Fireworks event on Saturday 7th November for adventure and animals, soft play, children’s rides, family entertainment and food, and of course a fireworks display; one that’s specifically designed to be gentler on ears with quieter bangs.

‍

‍

‍

Another option for bonfire night events 2026 is Churchfields Farm in the Midlands, where on 1, 6, 7 or 8 November you can see their Low Noise Fireworks. Enjoy animals, go-karts, adventure play, circus skills and more, before the sky lights up with a low-noise firework display.

Fawkes Festival (Edinburgh)

‍

‍

‍

‍

‍

Scotland’s biggest firework display is lighting up the sky at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh. Styled as more of a festival than a classic Bonfire Night, you’ll love Fawkes Festival if you’re looking for live music, entertainment, street food and drinks as well as a firework display. Though 2026 dates aren’t fully confirmed, we can safely expect early November.
